Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Business Systems Data Analyst / Power BI & Fabric Developer - Various Locations!

Halff has an immediate opening for a Business Systems Data Analyst / Power BI & Fabric Developer to join our Business Systems team. This role is for a well‑rounded analytics professional who can design polished, executive‑ready Power BI dashboards while also working directly in SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, semantic models, and curated reporting datasets. The successful candidate must be able to learn complex ERP, accounting, project, HR, and operational data;

research unfamiliar source structures; validate results against trusted systems and reports; and create reusable governed datasets that other report authors and business users can rely on. This is not a visualization‑only role; the person in this position must be able to investigate source data, determine the correct grain and business meaning of fields, build or refine reporting datasets, and explain why the numbers are correct.

We are looking for a well‑rounded analytics professional who can create polished, professional Power BI dashboards while also working hands‑on with SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, semantic models, and curated reporting datasets. The ideal candidate is comfortable learning complex ERP, accounting, project, and operational data; researching unfamiliar data structures; validating results against trusted sources; and helping build reusable datasets rather than relying solely on others for data engineering support.

Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint, the AEC / professional services industry, project accounting, or similar ERP‑driven environments is highly valued.

What you will do:
  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of polished Power BI dashboards, including report layout, usability, DAX measures, relationships, semantic models, and performance tuning
  • Research and understand existing SQL Server VP/Data Mart datasets, Microsoft Fabric data assets, semantic models, and reporting logic
  • Design and maintain curated reporting datasets and semantic models in Microsoft Fabric to support scalable, governed analytics
  • Transform complex ERP, accounting, project, HR, and operational data into clean, reliable, analytics‑ready structures
  • Help improve and expand ETL processes in SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric, working with internal team members and consultants
  • Trace data from source systems through SQL, Fabric, semantic models, and Power BI reports to validate accuracy and explain results
  • Validate dashboards and datasets against source systems, legacy reports, accounting outputs, and other trusted reporting sources
  • Collaborate with internal clients to translate business needs into technical requirements, identify appropriate data sources, and deliver vetted dashboards and datasets
  • Document dataset definitions, business rules, data lineage, assumptions, and known limitations
  • Support front‑office, production/operations, and management reporting needs as part of a cross‑trained Business Systems team
What you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analysis, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related area; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or in a related analytical role
  • Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience, including writing, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex T‑SQL queries, views, and stored procedures
  • Advanced Power BI experience, including DAX, data modeling, semantic models, report design, performance tuning, and row/column‑level security
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including fact/dimension design, grain, star schema design, snowflake schema design, relationships, and reporting performance
  • Demonstrated ability to research unfamiliar business data, understand source‑system context, and turn complex operational data into trusted reporting structures
  • Experience validating data and dashboards against other reporting sources to ensure accuracy, consistency, and business confidence
  • Ability to work with business leaders, accounting/finance, operations, and technical team members to understand business needs and deliver practical data solutions
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric…
