Position: Claims Technician II (23193)

$23.86 to $26.25 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Performs experienced technical work for Risk Management’s Property, Casualty, and Workers’ Compensation programs. Work includes serving as an interface between the County and third-party claim administrator (TPA) for the County’s liability, property, and/or workers’ compensation programs to collect and accurately process claim information;

adhering to County, State, and insurance policy reporting requirements; ensuring accurate and timely payments; maintaining claim files, managing electronic claim data, and assisting with insurance renewals. Work involves extensive typing, document management, and spreadsheet development and maintenance.

REQUIREMENTS

Three (3) years of progressively responsible clerical, insurance, and/or claims adjusting experience, which includes one (1) year of experience processing insurance claims for auto liability, general liability, and/or workers’ compensation claims. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Experience in an insurance or risk management office or a local government property, casualty, and/or workers’ compensation program is preferred.

Experience in document management, spreadsheet development, and spreadsheet/electronic data maintenance is preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
