As a Manual Machinist 4, you will set up, operate, adjust, and certify specialized equipment used to repair and overhaul critical aerospace components. You'll apply precision machining techniques, inspection methods, and manufacturing processes to ensure every part meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.
WhatYou Will Do
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot manual machining and inspection equipment.
- Perform precision machining using lathes, milling machines, jig bores, grinders, drill presses, saws, and other specialized equipment.
- Conduct inspections using precision measuring tools and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to verify product quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Identify and correct equipment setup or operational issues to ensure efficient production and compliance with specifications.
- Perform finishing, marking, and repair operations on aerospace components throughout various stages of production.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to complete assigned tasks.
- Accurately document work performed and maintain production records using computer‑based systems.
- Support preventive maintenance activities and equipment upkeep as directed by engineering.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment while actively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in CORE, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), and other site improvement programs.
- Complete all required training and maintain applicable certifications.
- Exposure to a wide variety of aerospace manufacturing, repair, and overhaul processes.
- Hands‑on experience with advanced inspection and measurement technologies.

- Continuous improvement methodologies that drive safety, quality, and operational excellence.
- High School diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the U.S.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Experience setting up and operating manual machine tools.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ability to machine and inspect parts to close tolerances, including ±0.0002 inches.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing, repair, or overhaul environments.
- Toolmaking experience and working knowledge of machining processes, including grinding and lapping.
- Experience machining magnesium and aluminum components.
- Experience designing, building, or modifying tooling and fixtures.
- Proficiency using precision measuring equipment, including gauges, calipers, micrometers, and related inspection tools.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality standards and inspection requirements.
- Working knowledge of shop mathematics, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and decimal measurements.
- Ability to identify early signs of tool wear and take appropriate corrective action.
- Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to enter and retrieve information using production systems, email, and other business applications.
