Position OverviewAn Assembler is responsible for production‑assembly work that is highly repetitive; the role requires the ability to work following a prescribed routine or where the method of assembly is obvious. Operators must follow demonstrated steps, run machines to perform specific machining processes on molded plastic parts, and receive complete and thorough training from the Equipment Programmer/Operator before operating the equipment. Operators must correctly place parts on the machine fixture and secure them using the foot pedal or hand controls, deburr and/or gauge parts during machine cycles, select programs, change fixtures, and run machines.
Operators are not permitted to program unless properly trained and authorized. They must record process control data, read and interpret blueprint tolerances, use measurement tools properly, start up and shut down equipment, and operate tools independently.
- Position requires operators to be mechanically inclined with basic reading, writing and mathematics skills.
- Position requires operator to work in a team environment, follow direction, read work instructions, and prepare container tickets, including addition and subtraction of part counts.
- Organizational skills required to multitask; use hand tools, scales, and other process‑related equipment such as fixtures, assembly presses and drill presses.
- Some hand tools require the operator to be ambidextrous.
- Position requires standing for extended periods or sitting for extended periods.
- Moderate lifting up to 50 lbs, lifting assistance is provided when necessary.
- Fine hand manipulation, pinching, pulling and grasping of small‑medium‑large parts is required.
- Operator must have full range of motion in hands, arms, legs, neck and back to perform job duties.
- Job requires the use of chemicals.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must have the ability to communicate in English; excellent written and verbal communication is required.
- The position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic reading and math skills.
- Must have normal to high manual dexterity skills.
- Must be able to use all required hand tools, machinery and variable gauges.
- Must be qualified and competent after a reasonable predetermined training period based on job complexity.
The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing area where conditions require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes/boots and hearing protection.
Primary EnvironmentTemperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. The area is non‑temperature controlled, resulting in hot temperatures during summer months. Typical hazards may include, but are not limited to, ergonomic issues, burns, bruises, cuts, heavy lifting, fumes, slippery floors, machine hazards, chemicals, gasses, and body injuries. Protective measures have been put in place in the form of machine guards, an ergonomic stretch program, documented hazards on work instructions, proper hand tools, environmental, health and safety training, and PPE.
Industrial lighting is provided. This work requires routine walking, standing and bending.
