Position Overview
An Assembler is responsible for production-assembly work that is highly repetitive. The role requires following a prescribed routine or method of assembly with a clear process. The operator runs machines to carry out specific machining processes on molded plastic parts, with full training from the Equipment Programmer/Operator before operating the equipment. Responsibilities include correctly placing parts on the machine fixture, securing them using foot pedals or hand controls, deburring or gauging parts during machine cycles, selecting program, changing fixtures, and running the machines.
The operator may only program equipment when properly trained and authorized, and must record process control data, read and interpret blueprint tolerances, use measurement tools correctly, and start‑up and shut down equipment independently.
- Mechanically inclined with basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
- Works within a team, follows direction, reads work instructions, and prepares container tickets, including addition and subtraction of part counts.
- Displays organizational skills, multitasks while using hand tools, scales, and other process equipment such as fixtures, assembly presses, and drill presses.
- Uses hand tools that may require ambidexterity.
- Stands or sits for extended periods of time.
- Lifts up to 50 lbs moderately, with assistance provided when necessary.
- Performs fine hand manipulation, pinching, pulling, and grasping of small, medium, and large parts.
- Maintains full range of motion in hands, arms, legs, neck, and back to perform job duties.
- Uses chemicals as part of the job.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to communicate in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic reading and math skills.
- Normal to high manual dexterity skills.
- Ability to use all required hand tools, machinery, and variable gauges.
- Qualified and competent after a reasonable predetermined training period based on job complexity.
The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing area, where the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes or boots, and hearing protection is required.
Primary EnvironmentThe work area temperature may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. The area is non‑temperature controlled, resulting in hot temperatures during summer months. Typical hazards include ergonomic issues, burns, bruises, cuts, heavy lifting, fumes, slippery floors, machine hazards, chemicals, gasses, and body injuries. Protective measures have been put in place in the form of machine guards, an ergonomic stretch program, identified hazards documented on the work instructions, proper hand tools, environmental, health and safety training, and PPE.
Industrial lighting is provided. This work requires routine walking, standing, and bending.
$18.00 - $21.57
The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job‑related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
