Position Overview
An Assembler is responsible for production-assembly. Work is highly repetitive and follows a prescribed routine. The operator must run machines for specific machining processes of molded plastic parts, correctly place parts on the machine fixture, secure them, deburr, gauge, and record process control data. The operator reads and interprets blueprint tolerances, uses measurement tools properly, and is responsible for equipment start‑up, shut‑down, and independent tool operation.
EssentialFunctions
- Operate machines for production‑assembly of molded plastic parts following demonstrated steps.
- Use, load, and secure parts on machine fixtures; deburr and gauge parts during machine cycles as required.
- Select programs, change fixtures, and run machines; chemicals may be used in the process.
- Record process control data and interpret blueprint tolerances using measurement tools.
- Operate tools independently for start‑up, shut‑down, and maintenance of equipment.
- Work with hand tools, scales, assembly presses, and drill presses; some hand tools require ambidexterity.
- Stand or sit for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs; maintain full range of motion in hands, arms, legs, neck, and back.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- High manual dexterity and ability to use hand tools, machinery, and variable gauges.
- Basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
- Ability to follow demonstrated steps and work instructions.
- Qualified after a reasonable predetermined training period based on job complexity.
The position requires exposure to a typical manufacturing area. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and hearing protection is required. Work may be conducted in a non‑temperature controlled environment, with hot temperatures during summer months. Hazards include ergonomic issues, burns, bruises, cuts, heavy lifting, fumes, slippery floors, machine hazards, chemicals, gases, and body injuries. Protective measures include machine guards, ergonomic stretch program, documented hazards, PPE, and training.
PayRange
$18.00 – $21.57 per hour.
