Our R&D Team builds hull molds, deck molds, and small part molds for companies across the United States.
Job Title: Research and Development Technician
Department: Production
Reports to: R&D Production Manager
Job Type: Full‑time
Shift: First Shift 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM;
Occasional overtime and weekends required
Salary Range: $15.00 to $22.00 annually
Responsibilities- Participate as an active member of the Product Development Team.
- Repair molds for hulls, decks, liners, and small parts.
- Create molds for hulls, decks, liners, and small parts.
- Support production startup and product launch by analyzing product positioning and translating functional needs into specifications.
- Collaborate with various departments or individuals from other disciplines.
- Consult with leadership, engineering, production managers, and other personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities, schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Ensure activities are performed safely and meet specific quality standards.
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, equipment layout, and workspace design to maximize efficiency.
- Assist in troubleshooting material‑related issues for existing or new products.
- Operate hand and power tools as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management or supervisors.
- Understand and comply with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Follow safety and health standards – use dust masks, gloves, eye protection, and other protective equipment as required.
- Work 8+ hour day shifts, standing, bending, and reaching; lift up to 50 lbs.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of experience with gel coating and fiberglass.
- Knowledge of fiberglass, resin, spray painting, composites, marine materials, and marine experience.
- Proficiency with tools such as sandpapers, DAs, polishers, and measuring tools.
- Experience working with wood, composites, FRP, fiberglass, and plastics.
- Working Conditions: Works inside with occasional outside work.
- Physical Effort: Lifting up to 50 lbs. Maximum with infrequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 25 lbs.; stooping, kneeling, or crawling with moderate effort; reaching and handling often with moderate effort; pushing and pulling of up to 25 lbs.
- Physical Environment: Exposure to dirt, dust, hazardous substances, and equipment frequently; protective eyewear required in production area.
- Sensory Attention: Senses of seeing, smelling, and touching required with extreme concentration for long durations.
