Catchafire was built to address the scarcity trap in the sector. The nonprofit and social impact world is filled with extraordinary leaders operating under chronic financial and resource constraints. Because of this scarcity trap, these leaders are often forced to prioritize short-term survival over long-term strategy, limiting their ability to scale impact, build durable institutions, or fully realize their missions.
Catchafire has proven that it does not have to be this way. By matching nonprofit leaders with the right skilled volunteers on the right projects—strategy, finance, technology, marketing, operations—small teams can generate outsized results. This proprietary matching technology is part of Catchafire’s impact infrastructure, which also includes educational content, events, and the power of community to holistically support the organizations we serve.
The majority of organizations on our platform are working on the front lines of society’s most urgent challenges, providing essential services to their communities. More than 50% of the nonprofits we serve are BIPOC-led, and many operate in communities that have been historically under-resourced and overlooked. Nonprofits and mission-driven organizations are the backbone of every community. When governments or markets fail, they are the institutions that ensure people and the planet do not fall through the cracks.
