NDT Technician - Infrared Thermography; IRT - Level II - Shift

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. The position focuses on manufacturing and supply chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

1st shift:
Monday - Friday (7:00AM - 3:30PM)

• Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirements.
• Perform inspections using thermography equipment.
• Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order.
• Document and organize inspection results.
• Interface and communicate with engineers and/or managers to describe inspection results.

• 1+ years of Level 2 experience in thermography.
• Must be able to pass Thermography General Test and Specific Test by week 3 (study materials provided if needed).
• Must meet the minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in thermography.
• Qualified to certify to Level II status per NAS-410 requirements with a minimum of 600 hours documented experience.
• Meet minimum vision requirements:
  Near Vision: 20/25 at 16" or Jaeger No. 1 at 12";
  Color Perception: correctly identify at least 12 panels on a 14 Plate Ishihara Color Test.
• Familiar with ASTM E2582 Standard Practice for Infrared Flash Thermography of Composite Panels and Repair Patches used in aerospace applications.
• Can determine optimal parameters per defined techniques and system calibrations for inspection activity.
• Experience analyzing data from composite structures.
• Can read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams.
• Experience with MS Office products.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends and off shifts as needed for critical deadlines.
• Can lift and transport parts and inspection equipment within OSHA requirements.
• Experience in both lab and field inspection environments.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
• U.S. citizenship or legal status (citizen, national, permanent resident, refugee, or asylum).
• Comfortable working off platforms, scissor lifts, or aerial boom lifts.

• Minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in other methods:
  Radiography, Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle.
• Certification in one or more of the following: radiography (non‑film), ultrasonic, eddy current, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, emergent methods (terahertz, laser shearography) per NAS-410.
• Phased Array Training.
• Carded as a radiographer for X‑ray by a state or certifying entity (ASNT, IRRSP).
• 40 hours of radiation safety training.
• 40 hours of digital radiography training.
• Training in computed and digital radiography.
• Knowledge of industry NDT standards.
• Experience in a production environment, preferably aerospace.
• Experience with automated or robotic inspection equipment.
• 1+ years of aerospace experience.
