Overview
As a Store Manager Trainee, you’ll train on all aspects of successfully running a store in preparation for running your own store. You’ll supervise day-to-day store activities, ensure overall store performance, identify staffing needs, manage schedules, and develop operational action plans while mentoring and developing the team.
Duties and Responsibilities- Demonstrate the Mindsets, ALDI Acts Competencies and Professional Skills (M.A.P.) as outlined for the role.
- Supervise the day-to-day operations and performance of the team to provide the highest level of customer service.
- Understand the overarching company strategy and model the core values to create teamwork among employees.
- Handle customer concerns and ensure appropriate resolution.
- Maintain proper store signage, product quality, and freshness of ALDI products.
- Assist in hiring store personnel by reviewing resumes/applications and interviewing candidates.
- Prepare, manage, and revise weekly schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports.
- Conduct store meetings and identify training and development opportunities for direct reports.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend advancement or termination as appropriate.
- Achieve store payroll and total loss budgets; manage cash audits with direct leader per company guidelines.
- Monitor the competitive environment and advise on adjustments to maintain a competitive position.
- Provide product feedback to direct leader, including recommendations on items to carry or discontinue.
- Provide a safe environment by identifying and rectifying hazards, maintaining ergonomics, and ensuring store equipment is in proper working order.
- Oversee product merchandising and maintain stock levels through appropriate product ordering.
- Conduct store inventory counts and reconciliations per company guidelines.
- Comply with all established company policies and procedures while protecting the security and confidentiality of documents and data.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to stock merchandise from receiving to shelving; ability to place product weighing up to 45 pounds on shelving at various heights.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk about the store.
- Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
- You must be 18 years of age or older to be employed for this role at ALDI.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service and lead others to do so.
- Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication that enhances growth and performance of direct reports.
- Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
- Ability to establish goals and guide employee performance to ensure quality and completion of work.

- Ability to understand and apply management principles concerning budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses.
- Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately.
- Ability to safely and properly operate equipment and perform general cleaning to company standards.
- Ability to stay organized and multi-task in a professional, efficient manner with attention to detail.
- Meets state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment.
- A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
- Prior management experience preferred.
- Full-Time Store Manager Trainees will often train at multiple locations and must have flexibility to travel within divisional requirements.
