PAY RATE: $20.00/HR.
Position SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Maintenance Specialist III, the Maintenance Specialist I is responsible for assisting the crew leader with the installation of sewer service laterals, sewer clean‑outs, sewer main lines, manholes, brick and precast. The specialist also assists in repairing sewer services, sewer main lines and associated appendages.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assists Maintenance III in the maintenance and repairs of the collection system.
- Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of wastewater mains, service connections, manholes and appurtenances (using a shovel for excavation is a large portion of this job).
- Loads and unloads trucks daily.
- Demonstrates responsibility when dealing with customers and the public, maintaining a professional appearance and mannerism.
- Cleans and services line crew equipment daily.
- Transports vehicles and equipment as directed.
- Performs extensive shoveling, lifting and mechanical repairs outdoors, in the elements, while maintaining good physical condition.
- Plows and finishes concrete.
- Maintains a good safety record; works in or around traffic, underground utilities, water lines, electric, gas, phone/fiber optics, cable TV, stormwater and sewer lines.
- Provides support to other employees in a team atmosphere and is willing to work in different areas of the department or city as required.
- All employees will be cross‑trained in water, wastewater, and/or reclaimed water for equivalent positions; may be directed to change positions at any time of employment without notice on a permanent or temporary basis.

- Possession of a Florida Driver’s License and required to upgrade to a class B CDL with Tanker and Air Brake endorsement within 2 years.
