Position: Technician - Assembly & Integration II-III (B-Shift)

Overview

Assembly Integration Technician at Blue Origin. Responsible for structural fabrication, fluid system installs, and avionic system integration for the GS2 Sub-Assembly location.

  • Knowledge of handling avionic units, including ESD precautions, connector inspection/nomenclature, thermal materials, grounding, and wire damage/repair
  • IPC-620/610 certification
  • J-STD certification
  • Application of sealants
  • Thermocouple installation
  • Click Bond installation
  • RTD installation
  • Installation and testing of patch heaters
  • Fluid Systems
  • Fitting and tubing installation
  • Installation of seals, K-Seal, O-Rings, Nose Seals, etc.
  • Filter and check-valve assembly
  • Umbilical/System Panel Assembly
  • Servicing and leak-check testing on GN2, GO2, and/or GHe systems
  • Safety wire/cable installation
  • Proper use of Krytox
  • Inspect hardware with visual, UV light, borescope, microscopic particle count, and high-precision weighing methods to ensure cleanliness standards
  • Structural
  • Precision hand drilling
  • Power-fed drill (PFD) operation
  • Nutplate installation
  • Key insert installation
  • Preventative maintenance of drill motors and attachments

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Operate calibrated tools and measurement devices such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, and multi-meters to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and integrate aerospace components according to engineering instructions and specifications.
  • Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Record of success as a hands-on doer or technical leader.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments with evolving responsibilities.
  • Proactively support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a safe, organized work area in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes and resolve technical challenges.
  • Document work performed and communicate promptly with engineering and quality teams.
  • Inspect assemblies, identify discrepancies, and execute repairs or modifications as required.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Windows, Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights (stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge in precision hole drilling using power feed drills and hand drills; maintain strict quality tolerances and proper angularity across aluminum, titanium, Inconel, and composite materials.
  • Hands-on experience with pressurized, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems.
  • Experience working on fluid systems with applied chemistry fundamentals
  • Demonstrated experience in surface preparation, sealing, bonding, painting, and priming for aerospace applications.
  • Skilled in harness routing, proper use of zip ties, spacers and tie mounts. Ability to route harnesses without crossing or riding structure.
  • Knowledge on proper use and installation of avionic units and systems.
  • Trade school training, industry certifications, or a relevant technical degree.
  • Lean/Six Sigma (Green Belt) or equivalent qualification.
