Salary Range: $30,743.44 - $59,344.48
Distinguishing Characteristics Of WorkThe purpose of this work is to receive, issue, purchase and inventory of a parts room and other related duties.
Essential Examples Of DutiesThe following illustrates examples of some of the essential duties and responsibilities of the Fleet Parts Counterperson. There may be other essential functions, not listed below, in order to accomplish the tasks as presented by the Supervisor.
- Obtains parts from least expensive vendor; determine proper number of parts needed for the different kinds of vehicles in the fleet.
- Installs and maintains a perpetual inventory.
- Ability to take a physical inventory and reconcile balance sheets.
- Enforces safety, housekeeping, and fire prevention rules.
- Ensures stockroom material is properly stored.
- Maintains adequate records of purchase orders, vendor invoices, work orders, shipping and receiving tickets and all related paperwork.
- Ability to track cores and core charges and reduce or eliminate obsolete parts.
- Picks up parts from vendors when necessary.
- Ability to write and communicate verbally.
- Ability to input and retrieve data from a computer.
- Ability to read and obtain information from various parts manuals.
Working knowledge of automotive, transit equipment and internal combustion engine parts and their accessories. General knowledge of computerized parts systems.
Physical And Environmental DemandsThe following are some of the physical requirements associated with this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made by the City to enable an individual to perform the essential duties/functions of the position.
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment such as hand tools, etc.
- Must be able to see and distinguish colors, hear and smell.
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work involves walking more than a mile per day, climbing stairs and ladders, moving, reaching, handling, bending, and stooping for periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50 pounds.
Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution or a combination of education and experience beyond the standard of a high school diploma or GED. Must have five years of experience in the automotive, truck, or heavy equipment parts field. Must have a valid State of Florida driver license.
