Medical Lab Technician

We're offering an up to $7,000 sign‑on bonus for a two‑year commitment.

Medical Lab Technician position in the Laboratory Services Department at Fairview Range Medical Center, Hibbing, MN.

As a MLT, you will perform chemical, bacteriological, serological, and microscopic procedures in one or more functional laboratory sections and maintain records of performance as defined in the laboratory's general and sectional policy and procedure manual. The lab is CAP accredited, fully equipped with microbiology, chemistry, hematology, transfusion medicine, molecular testing, and on‑site pathology support. You will provide 24/7 support for the medical center and its clinics.

This position will work 40–71 hours per two weeks. The shift length will be 8‑hour and 12‑hour shifts. Shifts include days, evenings, nights, and every other weekend.

• Follow established guidelines to obtain specimens, perform tests, and report results.
• Collect and process biological specimens with appropriate technique following SOP.
• Perform testing analysis and verify assay/analyzer performance according to SOP in an efficient, cost‑effective manner across areas such as hematology, coagulation, microbiology, serology, immunology, immunohematology, chemistry, special chemistry, urinalysis, and phlebotomy.
• Document and communicate lab test results thoroughly and accurately according to SOP.
• Perform and document maintenance procedures and maintain adequate supplies.
• Seek assistance appropriately for problems or unusual situations.
• Consistently implement laboratory customer‑service standards, including confidentiality, teamwork, successful communication, and conflict resolution.
• Schedule tests/procedures according to SOPs.
• Verify patient demographic and billing insurance information for lab‑only employees.
• Explain test procedures to patients in a way that gains their confidence and cooperation.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Support and adhere to laboratory SOPs, quality assurance, performance improvement, and compliance programs, identifying trends and taking appropriate actions.

• Associate of Science from a committee‑accredited MLT program.
• Qualified to work in a highly complex laboratory under CLIA regulations.
• Medical Lab Tech certification by ASCP or equivalent, or need to acquire certification within one year.

• 1 year experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician in an integrated healthcare environment.
• 3 years experience in a clinical laboratory.
