Emergency Department Technician
Fairview Range is seeking a passionate Emergency Department Technician who is looking for rewarding work in a fast-paced environment to join our Emergency Department in Hibbing, MN.
The Emergency Department Technician assists in direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The Tech facilitates internal and external patient transfers, supports patient care including performing EKG, vital sign collection and other clinical duties as assigned by nursing or providers.
Schedule:
This position is full time, working 72 hours per two weeks, 12-hour Day/Evening/Night, Weekends:
Every third weekend.

We are a Level IV trauma center and an Acute Stroke Ready hospital. We provide life-saving treatment to the seriously ill and injured 24 hours a day, with an adjacent Urgent Care department seeing lower acuity patients 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- 17 ER beds including 2 standalone trauma bays.
- Care delivery team:
Board Certified/Eligible ED physicians and advanced practice providers, RNs, LPNs, Unit Assistants, dedicated Social Worker, dedicated Security Officer - Patient population: all ages

As an Emergency Department Tech, you are responsible for:
- Providing Direct Patient Care
- Assisting in implementation of the plan of care and with daily living activities such as personal grooming/hygiene, dressing, toileting, bathing, feeding, and positioning/ambulating
- Observing and anticipating patient needs and requests; displays an interest in patient's welfare and comfort.
- Assisting in identification of and reports promptly major changes in patient's condition.
- Providing age specific care under the direction of the registered nurse.
- Maintaining safe and hygienic patient environment.
- Demonstrating organizational skills.
- Participating as directed in crisis intervention.
- Providing assistance to family/visitors
- Demonstrating thoughtfulness and courtesy to family and visitors.
- Assisting in explaining hospital policy and procedures.
- Performing clerical duties as assigned
- Recording obtained patient data in the medical record.
- Preparing patient information for admissions, transfers and discharges.
- Maintaining chart forms; keeps filing system up to date.
- Ordering needed supplies under the direction of the charge nurse.
- Assisting in maintaining supply par levels.
- Maintaining/collects data, log sheets, and other information relative to the Emergency Department.
- Performing receptionist functions
- Answering telephones; relaying messages promptly and accurately.
- Assisting other departments/EMS personnel as necessary for patient care.
- Demonstrating ability to organize data and enter into a computer in a precise manner.
- Demonstrating ability to learn and retain medical information and terms.
- Functioning in stressful situations and effective communication.
- Knowledge of computers and word processing.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from a nursing aide program or similarly qualified background
- If no applicants meet the position qualifications, consideration will be given to those applicants who: have a high school diploma or equivalent
