Early Childhood Screening Nurse

PT Nurse

Independent School District 701, Hibbing, is accepting applications for the following position: PT nurse (school nurse, public health nurse, or registered nurse) to help conduct Early Childhood Screenings 6 times a year.

Duties include:

checks, records and graphs the height and weight of each child who attends the district early childhood screenings (ECS). Screens hearing and vision and records the results for each child who attends ECS. Reviews the health history, immunization records, insurance coverage information and family factors forms turned in by the parents for each child who attends ECS. Shares and discusses any health concerns with parents and provides health education information for them as requested.

Writes referrals for children who do not pass the vision and/or hearing screening. Shares this referral information with parents and does follow up phone calls on previous referrals made. Completes the health/immunization portion of the overall screening summary and makes notations about any concerns. (This information is then passed on to district kindergarten personnel, nurses and building health aides for future reference and planning when children enter kindergarten.)
