The NC Department of Military & Veterans Affairs / Military Affairs Division is tasked with 23 specific functions that involve working with federal, state, local, regional, and industry partners to support activities at North Carolina military installations and improve economic outcomes and the quality of life for our military and veteran communities. The NC Department of Military & Veterans Affairs / Veterans Affairs Division, in accordance with Chapter 143, General Statutes of North Carolina, assists Veterans, their families, and their dependents in obtaining or maintaining privileges, rights, and benefits to which they are entitled under Federal, State or Local laws.
Responsibilities- Compose and format letters, reports, and records.
- Establish paper and electronic files for correspondence.
- Process mail for the assigned Veterans Service Center.
- Type reports, spreadsheets, and develop/maintain data reports using a computer.
- Conduct internet research and update NC DMVA web‑based programs.
- Operate office equipment (fax machine, copier, scanner, shredder). Automatic daily use of Microsoft Office is required.
- Provide daily public contact via in‑person visits, telephone, and email.
- Serve as sole administrative support for the Veterans Service Center; operate independently to make routine decisions and referrals without supervision.
Skills and Abilities
- Documented experience with Microsoft Office using Access, Word, and Excel.
- Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports.
- Experience interpreting and explaining policies, procedures, and laws to clients/customers and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficiency in letter writing, with correct spelling, punctuation, and proofreading.
- High school or GED diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- When qualifications are stated, applicants may meet the requirement through education, experience, or a combination thereof.

Salary Range$31,200.00 - $49,340.00
