To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.

• Management of Instructional Time: Ensure materials, supplies, and equipment are ready at the start of each lesson; begin the class quickly, get students on task, and maintain a high level of student time‑on‑task.
• Management of Student Behavior: Establish rules and procedures for student verbal participation, movement, and behavior; monitor behavior during all instructional activities and transitions, stopping inappropriate behavior promptly while maintaining student dignity.
• Instructional Presentation: Review prior materials, introduce specific learning objectives, present content clearly and precisely, use relevant examples and demonstrations, assign tasks with high success rates, ask appropriate questions, conduct lessons at an effective pace, and summarize key points.
• Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: Provide clear standards and deadlines, circulate during class work to check performance, use oral, written, and other products to assess progress, and ask questions clearly and one at a time.
• Instructional Feedback: Offer timely and accurate feedback on in‑class and out‑of‑class work, affirm correct responses, and provide sustaining feedback for incorrect or no responses.
• Facilitating Instruction: Develop an instructional plan aligned with school and system goals; use diagnostic information to revise objectives; maintain accurate documentation of student performance; match learning strategies and resources to student needs.
• Interacting Within the Educational Environment: Treat all students fairly and equitably and interact effectively with students, co‑workers, parents, and the community.
• Performing Non‑Instructional Duties: Carry out assigned non‑instructional duties, adhere to all laws and policies, and pursue professional development.
• Perform other related duties as required.

• Degree in Education or a related field that qualifies for teacher licensure by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
• Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment and perform general clerical duties.
• Ability to motivate students and maintain classroom order and discipline.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to establish effective working relationships.
• Strong knowledge of instructional design, assessment, and student‑centered strategies.

• Use variety of equipment and classroom tools: computers, copiers, typewriters, calculators, pencils, scissors, and equipment for students with special needs.
• Exert negligible force to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.
• Stand and walk for prolonged periods; light work.
• Show basic motor coordination and manual dexterity with office equipment.
