Purpose: To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.

• Manage instructional time, ensuring materials and supplies are ready at the start of each lesson, quickly start class and keep students on task.
• Establish and enforce rules and procedures for student behavior, verbal participation, movement, and transitions, maintaining student dignity.
• Plan and deliver lessons with clear objectives, engaging examples, and appropriate pacing; conduct transitions smoothly.
• Monitor student performance by circulating work, assessing oral, written and other products, and giving clear, incremental questioning.
• Provide timely feedback on in‑class and out‑of‑class work, affirm correct responses and probe incorrect or no responses.
• Develop instructional plans aligned with curriculum goals, use diagnostic assessment data, maintain accurate performance records, and utilize resources effectively.
• Interact fairly and equitably with students, co‑workers, parents, and community.
• Carry out non‑instructional duties as assigned (policy compliance, professional development, etc.).

Degree in education or a related field that qualifies for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

• Physical: light work duties, ability to use classroom equipment.
• Data perception, interpersonal communication, language ability, intelligence, verbal and numerical aptitude, spatial and motor coordination, manual dexterity, color discrimination.
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities: monitor student safety, motivate students, maintain classroom order and cleanliness, perform general clerical tasks, use office machines, maintain files, follow instructions, establish working relationships.
