Special Education Teacher in Hickory, NC

Step into a rewarding role supporting elementary-aged students as a Special Education Teacher on a contract basis, working with a dedicated group of 3rd to 5th graders. This position offers the opportunity to make a daily impact by providing specialized instruction and guidance to a class of 17 students, utilizing resource, pull-out, and inclusion models to meet diverse learning needs.

This role runs from ASAP through May 2027, providing consistency and ongoing support to students who thrive on stability. With a schedule of 37.5 hours per week, youll collaborate closely with colleagues and families, contributing to a positive school environment designed to empower every child.

• Current EC General Curriculum licensure is required
• Certified as a Special Education Teacher or actively working toward certification
• Previous experience with elementary-aged students preferred
• Strong understanding of resource, pull-out, and inclusion-based instructional strategies
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to maintain detailed documentation and monitor student progress
• Flexible and compassionate, with a passion for supporting student growth

• Provide individualized and small group instruction in resource, pull-out, and inclusive settings
• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers
• Track and report on student progress
