High School Equivalency Instructor, Part Time

Part-Time Instructor to teach basic academic skills and High School Equivalency (HSE) test preparation in a traditional, hybrid, or online format.

Hours needed:

Monday through Thursday day and evening hours are possible depending on position.

• Teach and develop reading, writing, and math skills
• Actively assist in the recruitment and retention of students in the HSE program
• Maintain a positive rapport with students and program staff
• Maintain testing and attendance records and other applicable documents/records with great attention to detail and precision
• Report to Adult Secondary Credentials (ASC) Coordinator
• Learn and abide by all policies and procedures of the department
• Other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree, education or related field preferred

Adult Education/HSE experience preferred

• HSE instructors must demonstrate a passion for teaching, a strong sense of classroom management, an understanding of the barriers students face and a professional and encouraging demeanor toward these students. Flexibility with job duties and great attention to detail is a must.
• Must be able to work as a part of a team and value collaboration; possess good teaching and organization skills; be able to communicate effectively both in verbal and written expression; and possess an education philosophy that is compatible with the mission of the community college.

All adjunct positions are contingent upon enrollment needs and funding.

Copies of all degree transcripts, including coursework completed and degree conferred, must be provided prior to being hired. Official transcripts are required to be forwarded to the CVCC Personnel Office Upon Hire.
