** Role Purpose*
* Corning Incorporated is hiring a  
** Senior Engineer, Controls
** in  
** Corning, NY** . This is a  
** full-time onsite role
** that typically works  
** Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, with flexibility as needed
** to support project objectives. Travel averages approximately  
** 50%** , although actual travel may increase or decrease depending on project phase and business needs. Travel is primarily domestic to support multiple locations, and international travel may be required.  
** Relocation assistance is available.

** Charlotte, Hickory, or Wilmington, NC
** depending on business needs.

* ** This position sits within Corning's MT&E Automation Controls Systems Engineering organization** , where you'll support controls engineering projects from design and build through installation and commissioning, delivering PLC-based automation solutions for new equipment, factory expansions, and process improvements at Corning manufacturing facilities nationwide. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, plant teams, and system integrators - building the kind of multi-site, multi-phase project experience that seriously accelerates a controls engineering career.

** Key Responsibilities*
* + Support controls engineering projects through design, build, installation, startup, and commissioning phases.

+ Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs for manufacturing equipment and automation systems.

+ Participate in the development of control architectures, functional specifications, and system integration requirements based on process and manufacturing needs.

+ Work with internal engineering teams, plant personnel, and external system integrators or machine builders to deliver automation solutions.

+ Review and interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, and controls documentation; support updates during project execution.

+ Assist with offline testing, equipment integration, field installation, and production startup support.

+ Troubleshoot controls and automation issues related to programming, integration, and system performance.

+ Support industrial networking and communications required for machine and system integration.
