Senior Principal Engineer – Controls

Lead and mentor a team of Controls Engineers while driving plant-wide process and automation improvements. Provide day‑to‑day engineering support and technical mentorship to scientists, engineers and maintenance technicians. Conduct capacity analysis, process optimization, automation, VIP implementation, validation planning and execution using lean manufacturing techniques. Manage plant control systems, oversee equipment commissioning and troubleshooting, and lead complex change control activities.

• Develop or participate in solutions to complex problems for assigned projects.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and functional groups on regulatory compliance and validation activities.
• Design and perform routine testing, project experiments, data analysis, and reporting.
• Conduct engineering studies on new equipment, including data gathering during startup and test batches.
• Initiate or revise protocols and operating instructions specific to the project.
• Investigate and resolve NCR/CAPA investigations.
• Lead and complete change control activities for equipment.
• Provide training and technical support within production.
• Serve as SME for the service department to solve equipment and process issues.
• Recommend modifications to operating policies.
• Establish and control capital operating budgets for projects.
• Assist in design, installation, and startup of new equipment and systems.
• Coordinate with multi‑functional teams on existing and new product lines.
• Provide technical mentorship and lead sophisticated projects.
• Drive innovation within the plant.
• Supervise 3–5 members of the Controls Engineering team.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering (preferred).
• 8+ years of experience as a senior or principal engineer in a similar role.
• 8+ years of Rockwell PLC experience.
• Experience with servo control systems (Rockwell, Yaskawa).
• Ability to read and write electrical schematics.
• Hands‑on mechanical drafting with AutoCAD.

Estimated base salary: $128,000 – $176,000 annually, with additional discretionary bonuses possible.
