Data Governance & Data Risk/Assurance Consultant

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Governance and Data Risk/Assurance consultant to launch our new Data Risk/Assurance team. This role will partner closely with Data Governance, Risk, Technology, Privacy, Compliance, and business stakeholders to establish governance standards, develop control frameworks, support assurance activities, and improve data risk management practices. The consultant will play a key role in translating policies and standards into actionable controls, supporting governance assessments, developing metrics and reporting, driving remediation activities, and assisting in the creation of an Enterprise End User Computing (EUC) Standard and supporting governance framework.

This is a hands-on role well-suited for someone who can operate strategically while also producing tangible deliverables.

Data Governance Program Support

• Support development and operationalization of enterprise Data Governance policies, standards, and procedures.
• Assist in translating governance requirements into measurable and testable control requirements.
• Document governance processes, roles, responsibilities, and operating models.
• Help mature governance practices across data quality, data retention, metadata management, classification, and data lifecycle management.
• Facilitate workshops with business and technology stakeholders to gather requirements and build consensus.

Data Assurance & Control Framework

• Assist in developing and maintaining a Data Control Framework aligned to enterprise policies and standards.
• Evaluate control design and document evidence of control implementation.
• Support creation of certification, assessment, and testing procedures.
• Develop control inventories, control mappings, and traceability between policies, standards, controls, risks, and remediation activities.
• Assist in operating effectiveness assessments and governance reviews.

Risk Management & Remediation

• Help maintain data governance risk inventories and taxonomies.
• Support risk assessments, Rapid Risk Assessments (RRAs), and issue management activities.
• Track remediation plans, milestones, ownership, and status reporting.
• Document findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans.
• Assist with audit preparation and response activities.

Metrics & Reporting

• Develop Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and governance metrics.
• Create executive and committee reporting materials.
• Build dashboards and reporting artifacts that measure governance maturity, compliance, risk reduction, and control effectiveness.
• Support development of data governance scorecards.

End User Computing (EUC) Standard Development

• Assist in development of an enterprise EUC policy, standard, and supporting procedures.
• Inventory and categorize EUC assets including spreadsheets, databases, scripts, and reporting tools.
• Define risk-based EUC control requirements.
• Develop governance processes for EUC identification, classification, attestation, monitoring, and remediation.
• Benchmark industry practices and regulatory expectations related to EUC governance.

Documentation & Deliverables

• Create executive presentations, governance artifacts, process flows, procedures, and operating model documentation.
• Maintain project plans, action logs, and governance documentation.
• Produce clear, concise, executive-ready communications and recommendations.
