Job Summary

The Fleet Manager - East is responsible for the day-to-day operational performance of the Bird Electric fleet within the East region. This position serves as the primary regional fleet leader and business partner to field operations, ensuring vehicles and fleet assets are available, reliable, properly utilized, maintained, and aligned with operational requirements.

  • The Fleet Manager is a field-oriented operational leader who will work closely with regional and project leadership to understand business requirements, anticipate fleet needs, resolve operational issues, and continuously improve fleet performance.
  • This position will lead regional Fleet Operations while partnering closely with the Director of Fleet & Tooling Management and centralized functional leaders responsible for fleet administration, tooling, compliance, systems, procurement, and enterprise fleet strategy.
  • The Fleet Manager is accountable for regional operational outcomes, including asset availability, utilization, maintenance performance, rental reduction, lifecycle management, cost control, and customer service to field operations.
  • The Fleet Manager is expected to operate as a regional operational leader within a broader functional organization, ensuring regional execution is consistent with enterprise strategy, standards, policies, and priorities.
Key Responsibilities

Fleet Operations & Regional Accountability

  • Own the overall operational performance of the East regional fleet.
  • Serve as the primary fleet point of contact for regional and field operations.
  • Ensure fleet assets are available, reliable, safe, and appropriately assigned to support business requirements.
  • Maintain accurate visibility into vehicle and fleet asset assignments and ensure assets are aligned with employee, project, and operational needs.
  • Monitor fleet utilization and identify underutilized, excess, idle, or improperly assigned assets.

Maintenance & Asset Reliability

  • Provide regional oversight of fleet maintenance activities and asset reliability.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance requirements are identified, scheduled, and completed.
  • Escalate significant reliability, safety, or lifecycle concerns to the appropriate functional leader.
