Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Sewer at our Longview manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for assembling individual fabrics, zippers, and other sub-components into fabricated mattress cover. Major challenges involve the efficient usage of various components to produce cushion covers per customer specifications.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Prior industrial sewing experience is required.

Receive and understand instructions from department supervisor or lead person.

Accept work (component parts) distributed by material handlers or lead person.

Assemble using specified sewing procedures, fabric and tick components into a finished cover according to specified customer requirements.

Self-inspect each step of the sewing process to ensure customer expectations are met.

Place finished product onto table or skid for next step in production process.

Enclose finished cover with neat seams to meet customer demands.

Clean sewing machine and perform basic maintenance.

Set up sewing area with adequate supplies.

Adhere to established department production procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Basic Reading, Writing and Math Skills.

Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and call-in with little notice.

Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Must be able to work with little or no supervision.

Non-Essential Functions:

Assist with necessary inventory counting.
Assist with turning finished covers from inside to outside appearance.

Education:

High School diploma or GED is preferred

Hourly Rate: $21.33-$22.03

Work Hours:

Monday-Friday 6:00 am-2:30 pm depending on business needs
