Carpenter Co. is seeking a CAD Specialist to join our Longview, NC manufacturing plant. This role reports to the Branch Manager and focuses on the precise entry and maintenance of contour cutting operations, machine programming, and operator training.
Job SummaryResponsible for initial entry and maintenance of all contour cutting operations as it pertains to programming of machines and training of operators. Provide necessary information for the Pattern Costing Systems. Scan completed drawings into a database for use as paperless shop floor specifications.
Responsibilities- Enter and maintain all contour cutting data in the CAD system and verify accuracy.
- Program machines and assign cutting definitions, including start, entry, exit, transition, and lower cutting paths.
- Perform general clerical duties and routine data entry for pattern costing and order entry.
- Communicate frequently with production crew, sales, and management to confirm production schedules.
- Maintain part entry accuracy and ensure product revisions are up to date on the appropriate cutting machines.
- Assist in maintaining the pattern costing system and update parts specifications as necessary.
- Repair or troubleshoot contour cutters when possible and isolate problems for mechanics or technicians.
- Train new operators and provide cross-training to existing operators on contour cutter use.
- Follow Company rules and policies, maintain acceptable attendance, and keep a clean work area.
- High school education or GED.
- Some previous machine operation experience (training provided). Computer proficiency preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
- Computer familiarity with CAD, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to grasp computer operations quickly.
- Accuracy and thoroughness in data entry and pattern costing.
- Adaptability to changes in work environment and competing demands.
- Strong communication with operators, production crew, and management.
- Safety awareness and adherence to safety and security procedures.
