Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Medical/Telemetry

As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care to patients in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Establishes and maintains efficient methods of ensuring the medical necessity and appropriateness of all hospital admissions while obtaining precertification.
• Performs admission and concurrent precerts for patients to ensure that the claim has an authorization number to prevent denials.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with payors, staff, etc.
• Reviews charts for clinical information to obtain precertification.
• Maintains proper telephone etiquette to referral sources.
• Manage patients along with RN case manager supervision.
• Evaluate patient status is correct per medical necessity for appropriate reimbursement.

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
