As a Nurse Extern, you will become an integral part of the nursing team, gaining valuable hands‑on experience while exploring the comprehensive responsibilities of a Registered Nurse. Your role includes:

• Providing essential care to patients by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
• Performing nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and carrying out other basic procedures to enhance your experience and competency.
• Accurately documenting care and communicating timely updates to the nursing team for seamless and coordinated patient care.
• Assisting patients and families with understanding their care plans, providing guidance for health and recovery.
• Maintaining cleanliness and safety in patient areas by adhering to infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and ensuring an organized environment.
• Engaging in continuous learning opportunities and contributing ideas to improve care, while partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan.

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of your employment start date.
• Enrollment in a nursing program with good standing, accredited under 21 NCAC 36.0302(b)(1).
• Current NC Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
