About the Role
Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for our Med‑Surg Ortho Trauma unit within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, evidence‑based nursing care to adult orthopedic and trauma patients with a wide range of medical‑surgical needs.
Responsibilities- Perform thorough patient assessments, monitor vital signs, manage complex post‑operative and trauma care, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately, manage IV therapy, wound and incision care, traction, orthopedic devices, and support pain management and early mobility initiatives.
- Coordinate transitions of care, provide education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and discharge instructions, and advocate for patient needs throughout the continuum of care.
- Document care clearly and accurately in the electronic health record, follow all hospital policies and evidence‑based protocols, and participate in quality initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes such as fall prevention, infection prevention, and reduction of readmissions.
- Strong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills.
- Experience caring for multiple patients with varying acuity levels in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.

ScheduleRegistered Nurses in this role typically work full‑time, rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support 24/7 patient care.
