Nurse Extern – Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit

Mission Health, a leading healthcare provider based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Nurse Extern for our Cardiovascular Progressive Care unit on a PRN basis. This role is designed for nursing students or recent graduates who are eager to build clinical competence in a high‑acuity, patient‑centered environment while working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

As a Nurse Extern, you will support the nursing team in delivering exceptional cardiovascular progressive care by assisting with patient assessments, obtaining vital signs, monitoring telemetry under direction, and accurately documenting findings in the electronic health record. You will help with activities of daily living, safe patient mobility, hygiene, and comfort measures, and observe, learn, and participate in evidence‑based practices for patients with complex cardiac and vascular conditions.

The Nurse Extern will collaborate closely with RNs, physicians, technicians, and interdisciplinary team members to promote optimal patient outcomes, support safe transitions of care, and uphold infection prevention and patient safety standards.

You will be expected to demonstrate strong communication skills with patients, families, and the care team, respect patient privacy and dignity, and actively contribute to a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
