Overview
Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse Pulmonary to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to adults with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions, including COPD, asthma, pneumonia, pulmonary fibrosis, and other complex respiratory illnesses. Working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team of physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans that support optimal respiratory function and overall patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Perform thorough respiratory and nursing assessments
- Administer medications and treatments, and monitor oxygen therapy and ventilatory support
- Respond promptly to changes in patient status using clinical judgment and evidence-based practice
- Educate patients and families on disease management, inhaler and nebulizer use, oxygen safety, smoking cessation, and strategies to prevent exacerbations and hospital readmissions
- Accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record, coordination of care across the continuum, and active participation in discharge planning
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, support adherence to infection prevention and patient safety standards, and help advance best practices in pulmonary care
- Strong clinical skills in pulmonary and medical-surgical nursing, including interpretation of vital signs and basic rhythm strips
- Familiarity with respiratory therapies and equipment and ability to collaborate closely with respiratory therapy
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care setting
