The Surgical team at Frye Regional Medical Center offers a supportive, team-oriented culture where nurses collaborate closely to provide exceptional care. The 20-Bed unit features self-scheduling, 12-hour shifts, and every-other-weekend rotation, helping promote flexibility and work-life balance. Nurses gain valuable experience caring for a diverse patient population while working alongside experienced leaders and a strong interdisciplinary team.
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role:
- Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN
- Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
- May administer medication.
- Documents patient care given.
- Assists RN with development of plan of care.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
Applicants should have a current state LPN license. High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional requirements include:
- Active North Carolina LPN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
- Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
