The Salvation Army, located in Hickory, NC, is hiring a Store Clerk for the Hickory Corps. The role involves assisting customers with donating, selecting, and purchasing store items, operating and maintaining a cash register, responding to customer questions, maintaining cleanliness and order of store displays, ensuring security of store items and cash, as well as accepting, sorting, and pricing donated items.

Assist store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operate and maintain a cash register; respond to customer’s questions; maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensure security of store items and the cash register; accept, sort, and price donated items.

• Knowledge of effective customer service techniques.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of basic mathematics.

High School diploma or G.E.D. and relevant experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to operate a cash register.
• Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change.
• Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting, relieved by lesser periods of sitting.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs on a frequent basis.

Work is performed in a normal store environment with minimal or no physical discomfort caused by weather changes.
