Location: Wallingford, CT

Field Office / Project Area: Long Island, NY (Hicksville area & Far Rockaways)

Duration: 12-Month Contract

Travel: ~40%

Fleet Vehicle: Not provided (valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required)

We are seeking an Assistant Environmental Scientist to support environmental fieldwork and reporting efforts on projects across Long Island, NY
, including the Far Rockaways. While the role is based out of Wallingford, CT, the work will be performed throughout Long Island.

The hiring manager is open to candidates from across the island; however,
preference will be given to candidates who are located on, or willing to relocate to, the Hicksville, NY area
.

This is a hands‑on field role ideal for early‑career environmental professionals looking to build experience in environmental assessments, compliance, and permitting.

• Assist with field surveys, environmental assessments, and data collection for environmental impact projects
• Support preparation of technical reports, environmental impact statements, and environmental field studies
• Utilize GIS data for map production in accordance with company and industry standards
• Assist with environmental site investigations, erosion control support, and subsurface soil sampling
• Support environmental compliance audits
• Assist with permit applications to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Follow company and site safety policies at all times
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related natural science discipline from an accredited program
• Minimum 1 year of related environmental experience
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Basic knowledge of:
• Environmental site assessment methods
• Environmental compliance and compliance audits
• Environmental permitting processes
• GPS and ArcGIS desktop environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
• Must meet requirements to qualify for and maintain company vehicle driving privileges (MVR required)
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
• Legally authorized to work permanently in the country where the position is located (no sponsorship available)

• Extensive local travel throughout Long Island and the Far Rockaways is required
• No fleet vehicle is provided
• Work boots, if required, are not reimbursed and must be provided by the employee
• Background investigation will include a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
