AV Technician

What You’ll Do

• Install, terminate, and configure professional AV systems including:
• Conference rooms and huddle spaces
• Digital signage and IPTV
• Sound systems and microphones
• Video distribution and control systems
• Displays, projectors, LED walls, and racks
• Pull, terminate, test, and label low-voltage cabling (Cat6, fiber, speaker wire, control, and AV signal cable)
• Mount displays, speakers, cameras, microphones, and rack equipment per drawings and best practices
• Build and dress AV racks with clean, professional cable management
• Power up, test, and verify all AV systems after installation
• Perform signal flow testing, audio tuning, and video verification
• Troubleshoot issues related to audio, video, control systems, and networks
• Work closely with programmers and engineers to resolve system issues during commissioning
• Assist with punch-list items and final QA before project turnover

• Follow drawings, scopes of work, and install documentation
• Coordinate with project managers, field engineers, electricians, IT teams, and other trades
• Maintain a professional presence on job sites with clients and end users
• Provide basic end-user support and guidance during system handoff

• Keep installation progress and updates current in  or company project tools
• Mark up drawings and report field changes
• Document issues, resolutions, and system conditions clearly and accurately

• 3+ years of experience as an AV Technician in a commercial AV integration environment
• Strong hands-on knowledge of:
• Professional audio systems, microphones, DSPs, and speakers
• Video conferencing and collaboration platforms
• Experience working with products from manufacturers such as:
• Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp
• Ability to read and follow AV drawings, rack elevations, and wiring diagrams
• Solid troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently on job sites and meet deadlines
• Willingness to travel within NYC and surrounding areas
• Ability to drive our commercial vehicles if needed.
• Capability to report to our office Hicksville NY when requested, for kick off meetings, training, and when requested by management.
• Disposition to work with AV helpers and apprentices.

• AVIXA CTS certification
• Crestron, QSC, Biamp, or Dante training
• Experience with Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, or Crestron video systems
• Basic networking knowledge (VLANs, IP addressing, PoE, switches)
