For over a century, Slomin’s has been a trusted name in Long Island homes, from home security to home heating and cooling. Today we're bringing that same reliability to residential solar, helping homeowners lower their energy costs and take control of their power.

Slomin’s is a family-owned company, with deep local roots, a loyal customer base, and a reputation built on doing the job right. We are currently looking for an experienced Lead Residential Solar Installer to run installation crews in the field and set the standard for quality, safety, and craftsmanship on every rooftop. The Lead Installer role will be the senior technician on site, mounting racking, setting panels, running conduit, and making the final connections, while mentoring a team of installers and serving as the point person between the crew and the homeowner.

This is a hands-on leadership role, perfect for someone who takes pride in code-compliant work and wants to grow with a company expanding its solar footprint.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team through full residential PV installations, from staging to system commissioning
  • Install racking, mounting hardware, modules, inverters (string and microinverter), and balance-of-system components
  • Run conduit and wiring, make AC/DC connections, and perform system testing per design specs
  • Read and execute from engineered plan sets, electrical diagrams, and permit packages
  • Enforce job-site safety, fall protection, and OSHA compliance for the entire crew
  • Ensure every install meets the National Electrical Code (NEC) and passes AHJ and utility inspection on the first visit
  • Mentor and train apprentice installers, providing on-the-job coaching
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and represent the Slomin’s brand on their property
  • Coordinate daily with project managers on material needs, scheduling, and any field issues
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on residential solar installation experience, with at least 1 year in a leader capacity
  • Strong working knowledge of PV systems, racking platforms, and major inverter brands (Enphase, Solar Edge, etc.)
  • Comfort working at heights on pitched and flat roofs; ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Solid understanding of NEC requirements as they apply to PV
  • Valid NYS driver's license and clean driving record
  • Reliability, leadership presence, professional, and a quality-first mindset
Preferred (a plus, not required):
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • Electrical license or apprenticeship hours
  • Experience with battery storage installations
  • Familiarity with Long Island utility (PSEG-LI) interconnection requirements
Salary / Benefits:
  • Competitive salary (weekly pay) based on experience
  • Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 annually
  • Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and prescription insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA)
  • Life Insurance
  • 401(k) Retirement Fund and Security Fund
  • Supplemental Accident, Sickness, Long-Term Disability and Short-Term Disability insurances, Pet Insurance
  • Company vehicle
  • Ongoing training
  • The stability of a 100+ year-old, family-owned local company

Ready to Lead? If you're a skilled solar installer ready to step up and run your own crew with a company that's been part of the Long Island community for generations, we want to hear from you.
