The Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. This role handles day-to-day accounting functions including reconciliations and general ledger maintenance, while also assisting with financial reporting and audit support.

Key Responsibilities General Accounting
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
Reconciliations & Reporting
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Prepare account reconciliations with supporting schedules
  • Assist in preparation of financial statements and management reports
  • Support budget tracking and variance analysis
Compliance & Support
  • Assist with annual audit and tax preparation support
  • Maintain organized financial documentation
  • Support internal controls and process improvements
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 4+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Experience with ERP or accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite, SAP, Great Plains, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP preferred)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Public accounting experience a plus
  • Experience with multi-entity or multi-location accounting
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition and accrual accounting
