We are seeking a Tax Accountant to join a growing public accounting firm. This role is ideal for a tax professional with experience preparing a variety of tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120, and 1065
. The Tax Accountant will work closely with clients and firm leadership to ensure accurate tax compliance, identify planning opportunities, and provide exceptional client service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and comfortable managing multiple engagements in a public accounting environment.
- Prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals (
Form 1040
), corporations (
Form 1120
), and partnerships (
Form 1065
). - Gather, organize, and analyze client financial information to ensure accurate tax reporting.
- Assist with tax planning strategies and identify opportunities to minimize tax liabilities.
- Conduct tax research and stay current on federal and state tax law changes.
- Communicate with clients regarding tax documents, return preparation, and tax-related questions.
- Review financial records and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist with responding to IRS and state tax notices as needed.
- Collaborate with partners, managers, and other team members on client engagements.
- Maintain compliance with firm policies, professional standards, and filing deadlines.
- Support year-round tax and accounting projects for individual and business clients.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 1–5+ years of public accounting tax experience preferred.
- Experience preparing 1040, 1120, and 1065 tax returns required.
- Knowledge of federal and state tax compliance regulations.
- CPA license or CPA candidate preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with tax preparation and accounting software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and client service abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with small businesses and closely held companies is a plus.
