Accounting Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist with a primary focus on Accounts Receivable to join our finance team. This role is responsible for managing customer invoicing, cash application, collections, account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a proactive approach to resolving payment discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities- Generate and distribute customer invoices accurately and timely.
- Apply daily cash receipts, ACH payments, wire transfers, and credit card payments.
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding customer balances.
- Communicate with customers regarding payment status, billing inquiries, and account discrepancies.
- Research and resolve payment issues, deductions, short pays, and unapplied cash.
- Maintain accurate customer account records and documentation.
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation as needed.
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company policies.
- Support audits by providing requested documentation and schedules.
- Assist with reporting and analysis related to receivables and cash flow.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Associate degree with relevant accounting experience may be considered.
- 2+ years of Accounts Receivable or general accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and account reconciliations.
- Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
