Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist with a primary focus on Accounts Receivable to join our finance team. This role is responsible for managing customer invoicing, cash application, collections, account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a proactive approach to resolving payment discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate and distribute customer invoices accurately and timely.
  • Apply daily cash receipts, ACH payments, wire transfers, and credit card payments.
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding customer balances.
  • Communicate with customers regarding payment status, billing inquiries, and account discrepancies.
  • Research and resolve payment issues, deductions, short pays, and unapplied cash.
  • Maintain accurate customer account records and documentation.
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation as needed.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company policies.
  • Support audits by providing requested documentation and schedules.
  • Assist with reporting and analysis related to receivables and cash flow.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Associate degree with relevant accounting experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of Accounts Receivable or general accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and account reconciliations.
  • Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
