Utility Clerk Position
This individual would be responsible for preparing, processing, and maintaining accurate water and sewer billing; perform data entry tasks to enter, modify, verify, and maintain billing information; sort and distribute documents; and have the ability to calculate and maintain an up-to-date rate and fee schedule for water and sewer usage, tap fees, and other related items.
This individual would also be responsible for working with citizens and meter readers; assist tax and finance clerks and perform backup in their absence; as well as prepare monthly statements concerning revenue and expense transactions.
Candidates should have exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with the public in pressure situations; a knowledge of modern procedures of data processing methods; the ability to work independently and multi-task; and the ability to make arithmetical computations rapidly and accurately.
Applicants should possess a high school diploma with a preferred two (2) years of education from an accredited university, community college, or business school. Must also have one (1) year of general office work experience; including bookkeeping, public relations, word processing, and computers.
