Description of Work The North Carolina Zoo is expanding, making this an exciting opportunity to join our team. We are seeking a professional, welcoming, and highly organized individual to serve as an Administrative this role, the Administrative Receptionist supports the Communications section by serving as the first point of contact for guests, staff, and external partners entering the Zoo’s Administrative Building.
The Receptionist provides exceptional customer service, manages a multi‑line phone system, assists with administrative tasks, and communicates essential information about Zoo operations, policies, and procedures. This position plays an important role in ensuring a positive and efficient experience for all who interact with the Zoo’s administrative offices.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Greet guests with a smile while maintaining a friendly and approachable attitude toward guests and staff.
Answer and respond to incoming calls using a multi‑line phone system.
Exercise strong listening skills and use available resources to assist guests with questions related to park information, local information, call transfers, and way finding.
Assist with administrative duties such as typing, reviewing documents, assembling materials, and completing other assigned tasks.
Exercise good judgment and patience when interacting with guests, including handling repetitive questions.
Display a sense of urgency and professionalism at all times.
Maintain a working knowledge of Zoo‑wide policies and procedures.

/Management Preferences Recruitment Range: $16.00 per hour

Candidates meet the minimum qualifications of this position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. Management Prefers Experience in administrative or customer‑service work, including but not limited to greeting visitors, managing multi‑line phone systems, providing information to guests or clients, and performing general office or clerical tasks.

Physical Requirements Must possess the physical ability to hear well, speak clearly, walk short distances, and lift up to 25 lbs.
Strong communication, decision‑making, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively independently.
Ability to use a computer to navigate email, online resources, and general office equipment such as printers and scanners.
Must have a valid NC driver’s license.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
