Job Overview
Learning and Teaching Administrator for the Department of Engineering. You will provide a professional, efficient administrative service supporting teaching, learning and assessment activities from student recruitment and enrolment through to graduation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent and timely administrative service to students and colleagues.
- Resolve routine queries and support student information needs.
- Collect, organise and record data (marks entry, feedback) and produce reports.
- Promote wellbeing arrangements for staff and students.
- Apply professional and regulatory standards, e.g. data protection.
- Monitor assessment submissions and student progress, follow up procedures and draft routine correspondence.
- Use standard office applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Update key business documentation (SOPs, handbooks, learning environment, student concession requests).
- Make arrangements for events, meetings and recruitment activities.
- Resolve queries and refer complex issues to senior colleagues.
- Assist team in organising and providing services from enrolment to graduation.
- Seek and incorporate feedback to improve services.
- Record and share information such as marks and feedback.
- Liaise with staff, external agencies and professional organisations.
- Prepare and support meetings, working groups and committees.
- Perform other reasonable duties.
- Five GCSEs (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a post‑16 qualification.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a busy office, delivering front‑line administrative services to a high standard (
* weight). - Experience managing time to meet deadlines under pressure, maintaining accuracy (
* weight). - Experience providing advice and guidance to colleagues and customers.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Strong digital competence with Microsoft 365, digital booking systems and other software.
- Proactive, initiative‑driven problem solving and pragmatic decision making (
* weight). - Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Experience participating in networks to share good practice.
