Operations Manager, EHS / HSE Manager
Job Summary
DPR Construction is seeking a safety manager based in our Raleigh office. The candidate will implement DPR’s environmental health and safety plan (EHSP) and related programs at assigned construction project(s) and business units, working with project managers and subcontractors to recognize and address potential hazards before they exist and ensuring compliance with EHSP through behavior‑based safety techniques.
Responsibilities- Lead and live DPR’s injury‑free environment culture.
- Shepherd and develop career paths for safety coordinators.
- Lead pre‑qualification processes with subcontractors.
- Coach project and subcontractor management on safety leadership and management practices.
- Provide trending analysis for project/ regional data on a weekly, monthly and/or quarterly basis.
- Foster development of safety programs and protocols.
- Develop and blend site‑specific safety plans incorporating DPR’s and customer safe work practices.
- Assist with continual development of new methods for abating hazards.
- Perform regular jobsite safety audits and share findings, corrective actions and plans with DPR project management.
- Utilize every resource, including escalation, to ensure an injury‑free environment.
- Monitor subcontractor selection process and adherence to environmental safety and health guidelines.
- Measure team engagement regarding safety management practices.
- Administrative duties: maintain regional safety files including training documentation, medical certifications, environmental testing, training, investigation reports, close calls, injury summaries, leading indicator data, and other safety and health documentation.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience on construction sites.
- OSHA 500 training.
- Competent person, train‑the‑trainer, and other activity‑specific certifications.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office suite.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Degree in safety management or CHST certification (plus).
- Core market experience (plus).
- Carpenter or laborer union affiliation (okay).
- Salary‑based position.
