Construction Worker – Western North Carolina (Watauga, Buncombe, Yancey Counties)

Job Type: Full-Time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required). Spanish (preferred).

  • Watauga County (Boone, NC)
  • Buncombe County (Asheville, NC)
  • Yancey County (Burnsville, NC)
Responsibilities
  • Work jointly with the Project Superintendent, Construction Foremen, and Logistics Coordinators to construct and/or repair both stick‑built homes and manufactured homes in the affected area.
  • Work with and lead volunteers.
  • Apply construction abilities to set up mobile homes as part of our manufactured home replacement program for victims of natural disasters.
  • Work with other construction workers and hired subcontractors when needed.
  • Ensure the quality of each project is maintained to the highest possible standard.
  • Provide safety training and general project training for team members at the job site and assure all work is done according to safety standards.
  • Maintain security of all materials and equipment at job sites.
  • Ensure quality and adherence to Samaritan's Purse policies from hired subcontractors.
  • Inspect all jobs, ensuring work is performed per federal, state, and local laws and codes.
  • Communicate and minister to homeowners and partners, keeping them informed of the team's work and projected needs.
Qualifications
  • One‑year certificate from college or technical school and three (3) to six (6) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain a driver's medical card (required).
  • Trade certifications (electrical, plumbing, roofing, framing, and finish carpentry) (preferred).
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (preferred).
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of residential home construction, from layout and foundation work to final inspection.
