Position Summary:

The General Dentist is a dentist and Provider member of the care team responsible for providing a high standard of quality care at the Triad Adult & Pediatric Medicine Dental Clinic.

The General Dentist is responsible for being part of an engaged dental team and in providing & supporting best practices with a continuous focus on team harmony, outcomes, financial sustainability, safety, and quality improvement. They will provide comprehensive and appropriate dental care and treatment to patients. They will provide supervision to Dental Assistant(s) and Dental Hygienist(s) as assigned. They will act as Adjunct Faculty and Preceptor for High Point University Dental Learners on site.

job responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • Directly affect improvements in patient well-being through accurate and timely diagnosis and delivery of high-quality dental treatment. Ensure the delivery of competent, accurate, dental care and treatment to all patients as assigned.
  • Support and follow the clinic policies and directives of the Dental Director toward best practice and lead by example for other dental clinic staff.
  • Meet or exceed all measurable standards of care, including overall clinical, quality, and productivity goals with the guidance of the Dental Director.
  • Provide accuracy, efficiency, and appropriate confidentiality with patient charting and related recordkeeping and administrative functions as assigned.
Operational Excellence
  • Ensure the delivery of all dental treatment and care is consistent with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards, including clinic policies and quality initiatives.
  • Understand and ensure all practices and procedures related to the delivery of dental services are consistent with contracted protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in peer review and TAPM Quality Assurance/Improvement surveys and actions.
Relationship Management
  • Participate and work to ensure favorable relationships with all patients and their families. Ensure all patient services are delivered in a caring and professional manner.
  • Participate and work to ensure ongoing, positive relationships and collaboration with other dentists and dental staff members.
Professionalism & Stewardship
  • Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Uphold and ensure compliance and attention to all corporate policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of the organization.
Essential Functions
  • Provide routine and emergency dental services, including diagnosis and treatment plans, general restorative procedures, pediatric care (including PRRS, SSCs, and sealants), removable prosthetics, uncomplicated endodontics and minor oral surgery.
  • Order and interpret x-ray and lab studies.
  • Administer and prescribe anesthetics and medications.
  • Record patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient’s dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided. Practice in full compliance with TAPM EDR recordkeeping policies and procedures.
  • Refer patients for specialty care to other clinic programs our outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Supervise Dental Assistant and Dental Hygienist as assigned.
  • Supervise and facilitate learning of High Point University Dental Learners, coordinating with Experiential Director of HPU WSDM.
  • Conduct follow-up patient care.
  • Provide dental and oral health education to patients and families.
  • Actively participate in community dental programs.
  • Assist with in-service and on-going training of clinic staff.
