The Department of Clinical Sciences in the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy at High Point University invites applications for a full-time, promotion path (non-tenure track) faculty position. The person in this position will be responsible for teaching Pharm

D students and providing service to the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy, the University, and the greater High Point community. This will be advanced by clinical practice collaborations maintained by the individual. The estimated effort for this individual at program maturity (i.e., when a full faculty cohort is hired) will be 50-60% teaching, 20-40% service, and 10-15% scholarship. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

Education:

Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.

D.) degree from an ACPE-accredited school is required

Pharmacist licensure in North Carolina, or eligibility for licensure is required

Experience and Training:

A minimum of 1-year post-graduate training (PGY1 residency, fellowship), PhD or equivalent work experience is required.

Additional post-graduate training (e.g., PGY2 residency, fellowship) and professional certifications (BCPS) are preferred

Experience relevant to the following clinical areas is preferred but not required for the position: social and administrative sciences, pharmacotherapy, internal medicine, family medicine, cardiology, emergency medicine, geriatrics, or community pharmacy.

Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellence in pharmacy education and scholarship is preferred

Experience working with students as a faculty mentor or preceptor is preferred

Experience or interest in applied skills-based education is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills

Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Skill dealing with groups of people

Develop and publish scholarly work Design and implement teaching activities that simulate contemporary pharmacy practice settings

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Develop, coordinate, and teach content within the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy integrated curriculum as assigned by the Department Chair.

Develop and offer an elective course that corresponds with expertise area(s) as needed.

Utilize appropriate assessment tools and technologies to ensure effective and accurate evaluation of student learning.

Provide mentorship and advisement for students in the School of Pharmacy as appointed by the Office of Student and Professional Affairs and Department Chair.

Establish and maintain a clinical practice site or clinical collaborations within percent effort designated for clinical service

Collaborate in the clinical environment with established pharmacists to enhance services through education, scholarship, and quality improvement initiatives.

Serve as liaison between the School of Pharmacy and the faculty member’s practice site and any other collaborative associations as applicable

Engage in scholarly activities, including research and dissemination of findings through publications and presentations.

Integrate and enhance collaborations among the clinical sciences and basic sciences in areas of scholarship, education, and service.

Advance the service missions of the School of Pharmacy and High Point University to meet community needs.

Act as a representative and advocate for the department and School, both within the University and externally.

Participate in committees within the Department, School of Pharmacy, and University as appointed by the Department Chair and/or Dean Participate in professional and governmental organizations.

Abide by University and School of Pharmacy policies.

Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair and Dean.
