As a Student Service Coordinator, you will help students achieve personal fulfillment by providing services that support successful personal, educational, and occupational life plans.

How You Will Impact Education
  • Prepare for and conduct parent and student conferences according to school policy.
  • Provide instruction in modalities instituted by the school and assigned program (e.g., individual or group synchronous instruction, learning support, life skills support, itinerant support, resource room support, co‑teaching, lesson planning, telephone conferencing, and instruction).
  • Collect data and appropriate work samples.
  • Plan and conduct appointments with parents as needed.
  • Assist regular‑education teachers with specially designed instruction when necessary.
  • Participate at monthly outings encouraged.
  • Support special education student achievement in the general class through training teachers and assisting with implementation of school inclusion plans.
  • Arrange for and assist with training for inclusionary practices.
  • Act as an informational liaison for inclusion as appropriate.
  • Assist with planning for classroom and testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Model strategies for inclusionary practices.
  • Assist with developing and adapting curriculum materials and educational practices to meet the needs of students and teachers.
Individual Student Counseling
  • Assist students in evaluating their aptitudes and abilities through teacher comments, individualized standardized test scores, and other pertinent data.
  • Provide individual counseling sessions for assigned students on personal needs affecting school performance and on educational and career plans.
  • Provide small and large group counseling sessions as needed.
  • Assist students in course selections and scheduling, working to prevent drop‑outs and helping those who do drop‑out find alternative educational programs.
  • Assist in making arrangements for enrollment in summer school programs to make up noted deficiencies.
  • Participate in follow‑up studies of former students to improve services and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Provide emergency support to students during crises.
  • Provide students with college financial aid and scholarship resources and assist with college selection (high school).
Staff Consultation
  • Serve as a consultant to faculty regarding guidance services.
  • Confere with staff about students with problems and/or special needs.
  • Act as a resource person for administration in matters relating to students and guidance services; provide thorough and timely reports, data, etc. as requested.
Student and Parent Orientation
  • Provide orientation and information to students new to the school regarding procedures, curriculum, and extracurricular opportunities.
  • Plan and implement programs that support smooth transition between grade levels and/or to post‑secondary education, including orientation programs for students and parents.
  • Serve as a resource for information about the educational program, activities, and services of the school.
Record Keeping
  • Maintain cumulative records for assigned students in accordance with state and federal laws and CSUSA policy.
  • Provide information and recommendations to colleges for admissions and scholarships, as well as to potential employers and other agencies.
  • Maintain counseling records regarding conferences or other sessions with assigned students.
