Position Summary:
The Coordinator for Disability Services reports to the Dean of Student Well-Being/Director of Disability Services and is part of the University’s division of Student Life and Christian Mission. The Coordinator will support a caseload of undergraduate students with disabilities and will provide direct support including, but not limited to, determining accommodations, coordinating resources, supporting student transition, and advocating for students as needed.
The Coordinator will also assist the Dean with campus awareness and training events for students, faculty and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct intake appointments with students to learn about their accommodation needs. Parents often participate in these meetings.
Handle student records and health information in a confidential manner.
Work with students, faculty and the Director as needed to determine reasonable accommodations for each student.
Monitor student progress and support development of self-advocacy skills.
Support students inidentifyingand addressing problems and connect them with appropriate support services. Collaborate with internal partners toprovidecomprehensive support services and resources to students
Work collaboratively with the Director to plan and implement campus disability awareness and training events.
Participate with campus partners in planning and implementation of university events such as New Student Orientation and other transition activities.
Create and maintain collaborative and productive relationships across campus to support student accommodation needs in all areas of campus life.
Lead coaching efforts and facilitate support groups for students based on need or diagnosis
Serve on University Committees as assigned and requested.
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Uphold and abide by all Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to;
Title IX and FERPA guidelines.

Education/Experience:
Earned bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience in working with people with disabilities in employment, volunteer or other arenas.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with the legal statutes impacting access services in higher education (Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act; The Americans with Disabilities Act)
Strong written and oral communications skills and the ability to build relationships of trust and shared purpose with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and colleagues across all campus
Strong organizational, time management,and event planning skills
Self-starter with awillingness and ability tolearn
Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects, prioritize, problem solve, and meet deadlines; accuracy and attention to detailis essential
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and web-based applications
Familiarity with standard office equipment and its usage
Exerciseindependentjudgment in stressful,complex,and/ornew situations
Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude,courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students,administrators, externalagenciesand the public
Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and with a diverse group of people
Computer experience with software such as Colleague and Blackboard
