Lead Ballet Instructor | Director

Greensboro Performing Arts is seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Ballet to guide the development of our ballet program and inspire the next generation of dancers. This position combines high-quality ballet instruction with curriculum oversight, student assessment, choreography, and program leadership. The ideal candidate will possess extensive classical ballet training, a commitment to technical excellence, and a passion for helping students grow artistically and personally.

This instructor will play a key role in ensuring consistency and progression throughout the ballet curriculum while contributing to the collaborative and supportive culture of Greensboro Performing Arts.

Bachelor's Degree in Dance, Ballet Pedagogy, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field; or equivalent professional ballet training and experience. Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in ballet performance, instruction, curriculum development, and/or dance education. Extensive training in classical ballet with a strong foundation in ballet pedagogy and dancer development. Experience teaching ballet and pointe technique to intermediate and advanced dancers, including teen students.

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement progressive curriculum and evaluate student advancement. Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, and families in a team-oriented environment. Commitment to fostering technical excellence, artistry, discipline, and student growth.

• Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)
• Equivalent professional ballet training, certification, or teacher accreditation

• Ballet Instruction: GPA’s Progressive Track for Levels 3–5, delivering high-quality instruction in classical ballet technique, artistry, musicality, and performance while fostering a positive and disciplined learning environment.
• Curriculum Leadership:
  Oversee and monitor the ballet curriculum for Progressive Program Levels 1–6, ensuring consistency in technical standards, student progression, and instructional excellence across the program.
• Student Assessment & Development:
  Conduct bi-annual student assessments, provide meaningful feedback to students and families, and support individual growth through thoughtful evaluation, goal setting, and advancement recommendations.
• Choreography & Performance:
  Create and stage ballet works for Winter and Spring Showcases, including Ballet Suite productions, while preparing students for rehearsals, performances, and Summer Intensive programming.
• Faculty Collaboration & Program Planning:
  Collaborate with faculty and leadership through monthly planning meetings and bi-monthly check-ins, contributing to curriculum development, program improvement, and the overall success of GPA.

Available for PM classes Mon, Tue, Thu, and Saturday AM, Approximately 6-10 Classes per week | 10+ Office Hours/Wk

Salary based on hourly rate for classes, specific choreographic and curriculum projects and administrative duties.
